Mr. Lewis Cannon has worked with the J.F. Smith Group for more than 16 years. He has served in various capacities including feasibility study interviewer, feasibility study coordinator and capital campaign project manager. Most recently, he was promoted to the position of vice president of feasibility study training and strategy.

Over the years, Lewis has served as project manager for 14 capital campaigns with the J.F. Smith Group. Lewis is currently working with New Horizon Community Theatre in West Point, Georgia. The theatre is already well on its way to surpassing its campaign goal of $425,000. Prior to his current work with the theatre, Lewis assisted Fellowship Christian School, located in Roswell, Georgia, reach their campaign goal of $7.1 million.

Lewis is also an experienced feasibility study interviewer. He has also conducted interviews in 45 JFSG feasibility studies. In 2007, president and CEO Jerry F. Smith, created the “Lewis Cannon Award,” named after Lewis. The award goes to the interviewer of the year, as voted by JFSG staff. Lewis was the first recipient of this award.

Prior to joining the J.F. Smith Group, Lewis was active in the field of higher education for over 30 years. His varied career at Auburn University involved administration, teaching and research. For over 20 years, as coordinator of training for Auburn University’s Center for Governmental Services, he was responsible for developing and directing educational programs for the State of Alabama’s Department of Revenue and for various associations of local government officials. More recently, Lewis served as assistant director of Auburn University’s Master of Public Administration Program.
