Mr. John Staton joined the J.F. Smith Group in January of 2006 as a feasibility study interviewer. Since then, Staton has conducted more than 872 feasibility study interviews for 43 clients.

In November of 2007 Staton began work as a project manager and has since conducted two campaigns as lead project manager and worked with two others in an assistant’s role. As the project manager, Staton provided oversight of the prospect management process; evaluated prospects during a prospect rating and verification process; organized campaign volunteers and committees; cultivated and solicited potential donors; created stewardship programs; and helped to develop campaign printed materials. John’s client list includes The Auburn Football Lettermen Club in Auburn, Alabama; Crenshaw Christian Academy in Luverne, Alabama; The King’s Academy in Seymour, Tennessee; and Washington School in Greenville, Tennessee.

Staton also serves the J.F. Smith Group in a marketing role. He has conducted prospecting visits across the Southeast and Midwest and continues to do so while sharing the JFSG philosophy with organizations in need of fund-raising counsel.

“The one thing I have appreciated most about working with John Staton is his whatever it takes attitude when it comes to being successful in a campaign. While there are certain principles to follow in every campaign, each institution is unique and not everything can be approached in a cookie cutter fashion.”  — Walter Grubb, President/Headmaster, The King’s Academy

Prior to joining JFSG, Staton worked in a variety of fields. Among others, he worked in admissions recruitment and alumni relations at Emporia State University. His career then entered the business world as he joined S.R.A., an educational publishing company and subsidiary of IBM.
